Cobia!

Summer heat is here and fishing has been hot for spanish mackerel, mangrove, sharks, and the occasional cobia! Snook are still feeding but have been hanging way back in the bushes so accurate casts have been a must. Redfish are up on shallow flats with mullet and also in same areas as snook in the bushes.  Here’s Capt. Tim Drummond with a nice cobia fishing Tampa Bay.

Get your fishing fix this summer and book a charter trip fishing Tampa Bay Florida. The Tampa Bay area has excellent opportunities for shallow water snook, redfish, seatrout. Off the beaches, passes, and bridges right now tarpon are being caught daily. And the sharks are everywhere in between, it’s been a really good year for sharks… A couple of us are also offering Tampa Bay bow fishing trips now. It’s exciting sneaking up on sheepshead around the pilings and taking your shots at the excellent table fish. Or, hit the sandbar and look for the delicious cownose rays that can be grilled, blackened, smoked, fried, pretty much anyway you can fix chicken you can prepare ray. They’re plentiful and fun to target. Ask about this option prior to booking since we do not keep the bows on the boat unless a trip is booked as such.

Call now and reserve your day, don’t delay, best tide days fill fast!

Capt. Chris

It’s been an awesome spring, busiest since 07′. Many apologies to those who we weren’t able to return calls to as the fishing was “off the hook” and so was the phone. Every guide I know was fishing everyday and many times two trips a day.

On to the report..

Fish like snook, redfish, seatrout, and more were eating live and dead bait with ease and some really nice fish were brought aboard. The bait has been easy to find and so have the fish with the exception of redfish. They seemed to be here one day, gone the next. As always if redfish isn’t happening we’re on to bigger and better things. Speaking of bigger, the sharks came in in force this year. We’ve jumped spinners on trout rods, sight casted sharks, even made a blind cast with a hunk of mackerel that was eaten and pulling line before I even engaged the reel. This should continue all the way until beginning of winter if you know where to look.

Tarpon time is now. Bridges, bays, passes, beaches, they all have them. I tend to look for the area that has the least amount of boat traffic so we don’t have to deal with the hassle of “those who don’t know, or those who simply don’t care”. Give everybody a little space, there’s plenty of fish for everyone to go find there own school.

If you are looking to fish this summer please don’t delay in booking your trip. Good days/tides fill up fast. Tight lines!
