Fishing on lower Tampa Bay has been nothing short of stellar this October. Charters in the St. Petersburg area have produced consistent catches of top slot and over Redfish, keeper Seatrout, Mangrove Snapper, big Spanish Mackerel, and the occasional cobia. One charter this month caught a 30 pounder while Snook fishing along an island shoreline.
The big news however is that the snook are back after the freeze/kill of 2010. Top slot and bigger fish have taken up residence in all the usual haunts and are eager to feed on the better tides. Beach fishing in the Gulf of Mexico has produced good catches of big Spanish Mackerel along with some Kingfish and the occasional Flounder and Grouper, not to mention the Sharks. This fantastic action should continue through November so come and get some while the gettin’s good!
Hope to see you soon,
Capt. Tim Drummond
