Spring has sprung and fishing has been off to a great start. Spanish mackerel have been found everywhere there’s moving water. The kingfish shouldn’t be too long now. Snook are out on the flats and smacking scaled sardines with reckless abandon. The bigger seatrout are mixed in with redfish in 2 ft. of water around mangrove islands. Seems as if we might have a great year for pompano since catches have been coming in all winter from all the guides. I’ll be checking on some tarpon here soon also if the water stays around seventy with any consistency. Late season cold fronts will briefly stall fishing but it won’t take long for things to go right back to normal. Here’s a late season front approaching right at the end of a charter.
